IACUC Education and Training

Required training when performing research, teaching, or testing using live vertebrate animals.

Training Related to the Care and Use of Animals

As part of the responsibility for the oversight of the animal care and use program at Cornell University, the IACUC must ensure that personnel conducting procedures on research animals are appropriately qualified and trained in those procedures. IACUC Policy 200: Education and Training for the Humane Care and Use of Animals in Research, Training, and Testing provides more details. Required training is assigned by the IACUC and must be completed before the protocol/amendment can be approved.

  • Module 1 training is required for all personnel named on a protocol.
  • Additional training may be assigned, depending on the procedures, chemicals, and hazardous agents that the person might be using.
  • The online courses required by the IACUC are available with the AALAS Learning Library link.

The course is considered complete once you have passed the test.

If you do not have a Cornell Net ID, please contact the IACUC Training Coordinator for login information.

Additional requirements for classroom and hands on training may be placed by the IACUC. These classes are offered by CARE. Please contact the CARE Training Coordinator for more information.
