The Quantum Revolution: Designed Atom by Atom
Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2021 | 12 p.m. EST

We are living in the second quantum revolution, a time when we are able to harness our understanding of the quantum universe towards new technologies. Fantastical sounding ideas such as the quantum internet are becoming a reality. Chemistry offers a unique approach to create the next generation of materials for quantum information science. With chemistry we take the atomistic control over structure and function that has been successful in drug design and repurpose it to create systems targeted for specific quantum applications. Recent results from Northwestern will be highlighted along with future applications in computing, sensing, and communication.
