All research at Cornell that involves human participants must be either exempted from review or approved by the Institutional Review Board for Human Participants (IRB). The Cornell IRB office operates a Human Research Protection Program to protect the welfare of individuals who participate in research at the University.
For more information about IRB policies, federal regulations, training, and protocol submission procedures, visit Research with Human Participants.
Due to COVID-19 concerns, IRB Office Hours will be held via Zoom or phone--not in person--for the foreseeable future.
IRB Office Hours
IRB staff are available bi-weekly on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month, 1-4pm, to provide assistance with IRB applications and other IRB-related questions or concerns. Appointments are not necessary, but encouraged. IRB staff are now using Microsoft Bookings to schedule Zoom consultations during official IRB Office Hours, as well as some other times each week.
