What is ARC?

Administration for Research Centers (ARC) delivers tailored administrative support and project management to multidisciplinary research centers, service facilities, and sponsored projects within Cornell’s Research & Innovation Division. Our team of project associates and administrative assistants addresses both ongoing and short-term staffing needs, with a focus on part-time roles. ARC partners with a network of teams to support R&I centers.

ARC Services 

ARC general and post-award administrative services include:

  • Sponsored Project Administration  
    • Post-award project stewardship (non-technical), including administrative coordination and project lifecycle support 
    • Support for project data collection, record-keeping, and reporting (non-financial) 
  • Operational Support for Center Programs 
    • Administrative coordination of program development actions and procedural documentation 
    • Coordination of program delivery, timelines, and logistics 
    • Support for program data collection, record-keeping, evaluation, and reporting (non-financial) 
    • Administrative (non-technical) policy compliance facilitation, in coordination with compliance offices  
    • Administrative support for space management and equipment inventory 
  • Routine Financial, Procurement, and Expense Processing 
    • Routine financial management support in collaboration with the R&I Finance Team 
    • Procurement support and expense reimbursement processing 
    • Concur expense report preparation and submission 
  • Routine Communications Support  
    • Routine announcements, internal distributions, and updates 
    • Routine website and social media updates (does not include content creation) 
    • Support for strategic communications in collaboration with the R&I Communications Team 
  • Event Management and Meeting Coordination 
    • Event planning and day-of support for symposia, retreats, workshops, conferences, hackathons, and lectures 
    • Seminar series and webinar coordination  
    • Meeting coordination and calendaring support (does not include executive staff assistance)  
    • Coordination of speaker and participant logistics 
  • Short-Term Support 
    • Administrative continuity support during staff transitions 
    • Administrative capacity augmentation 

Integration with Center Teams

While centrally managed, ARC personnel are:

  • Functionally embedded within center teams, aligning with center goals and missions. 

  • Structured to provide an ARC lead who collaborates closely with the center director or administrative manager. 

    • Acts as a principal liaison and strategic partner 

    • May fill the role of administrative manager. 

  • Strengthened by ARC’s collective team expertise, enhancing overall administrative support.
