Meet the Funder: William T. Grant Foundation Scholars Program

Career Development for Promising Early-career Researchers
Virtual

Cornell faculty interested in the William T. Grant Scholars Program are invited to join a special internal information session featuring Melissa Wooten, Senior Program Officer at the William T. Grant Foundation.

This session will provide an overview of the William T. Grant Scholars Program and what makes for a competitive proposal. The Scholars Program is an annual and highly regarded early-career award that supports researchers committed to advancing knowledge that benefits young people in the U.S. ages 5-25.

There are two Foundation focus areas this year: reducing inequality in youth outcomes and improving the use of research evidence in policy and practice. It offers:

  • Funding up to ~$425,000 over five years to support ambitious research + mentoring plans, including opportunities to expand into new disciplines or methods.
  • Places a strong emphasis on mentorship and participation in a supportive scholarly community.
  • This program is only available to scholars who have received their PhD within the past 7 years and must hold a career-ladder (e.g., tenure-track) position at their institution.

Registration required.
