Funding Panel Series

This workshop series is designed to help faculty engage with funding opportunities from diverse sources including foundations, industry, and more. Each session features faculty members who have successfully secured such funding and provides actionable strategies from Cornell experts.

We look forward to this series of interactive sessions led by experts who have firsthand experience. 

February 11: Info Session: Meet the Funder: William T. Grant Foundation Scholars Program

Cornell faculty interested in the William T. Grant Scholars Program are invited to join a special internal information session featuring Melissa Wooten, Senior Program Officer at the William T. Grant Foundation.

This session will provide an overview of the William T. Grant Scholars Program and what makes for a competitive proposal. The Scholars Program is an annual and highly regarded early-career award that supports researchers committed to advancing knowledge that benefits young people in the U.S. ages 5-25.


February 12: Spring Seed-to-Grant Funding Panel

This panel will provide Cornell faculty with a comprehensive overview of seed funding programs designed to catalyze collaborative, interdisciplinary initiatives including opportunities from the Center for Data Science for Enterprise & Society, Center for the Humanities, Einaudi Center for International Relations, New York State Center for Advanced Technologies (CAT) and the upcoming Future of American Agriculture initiative. Participants will gain insights into how these opportunities can strengthen research partnerships and enhance competitiveness for external funding.


February 25: Meet the Funder: Pew Biomedical Scholars Program

Cornell faculty interested in the Pew Charitable Trusts Biomedical Scholars 2027 Program are invited to join a special internal information session featuring Donna Dang, PhD, Principal Associate and Sarah Kelly, Senior Associate of the Pew Charitable Trusts.

This session will provide an overview of the Pew Biomedical Scholars Program and what makes for a competitive proposal. The Scholars Program is an annual and highly regarded early-career award that supports young investigators of outstanding promise in science relevant to the advancement of human health.


March 18: NSF CAREER Funding Panel

The National Science Foundation’s (NSF) prestigious Faculty Early Career Development Program (CAREER) supports early-career faculty seeking to build strong foundations for research and education in their respective fields. An expert panel will share strategies for crafting competitive proposals and provide valuable insights for both new applicants and those resubmitting. They will also discuss how to work with reviewer feedback effectively. The Research Development team will offer essential information to help you kick-start your CAREER grant development process. 


April 29: CATalyzing Research into Industry 

CATalyzing Research into Industry is a focused, high-impact workshop that brings together Cornell faculty, trainees, and life science industry partners for a focused day of connection and collaboration designed to spark new collaborations, meet needs, accelerate translation, and turn shared interests into action. Through curated matching, informal networking, and translational case discussions, participants will identify shared challenges, complementary expertise, and opportunities for partnership. This workshop is organized by the Center for Life Science Enterprise, Cornell's NYSTAR-designated Center for Advanced Technology (CAT)
